Lynnae is speaking this week at The Net! Like most moms, she has a unique perspective of the heart of God. He has a vast nature and it’s all good. Men and Women are created in His image and since men do most of the speaking in church, I think the mother’s perspective of God is particularly important for us to hear. So, I’m looking forward to Lynnae’s message this week!

It’s easy to forget that our own particular understanding of God is not the only one. In fact, we are all only scratching the surface of God’s nature. A mother feels things about her family that could not come from any other place but the heart of God. We would all do well to consider how God feels about us, how He loves and nurtures us, how affectionate He is toward us. As the song says, “oh how He loves us.” He loves us like a father, and like a spouse as the scripture indicates but He also loves us like a Mother loves her children. Jesus spoke these words over Jerusalem, “How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.”

I heard someone refer to God once as Father and Mother God. At the time, I dismissed it like most religious people would. But, there is much truth in the fact that God’s nature is reflected in every sincere act of unconditional love in the world. And where do we see this type of selflessness displayed most often in our families? It’s through the heart of a mother.

So, let’s honor our mothers, who they are, what they have done, and how they have reflected the very nature of God’s heart to us.
