When hardship comes, and it will come, it’s not an opportunity for God to find out what we are made of. It’s an opportunity for us to find out what God is made of. And He never disappoints. He is a God of grace and peace. If you need it, He has ample supply for you. He is a God of wisdom. James says that He gives it liberally to all who ask without finding fault. So even if you’ve made terrible mistakes, you can come to him for wisdom without fear of Him finding fault with you. He is a God of healing. No one who ever trusted in Christ remained sick or wounded. Even devastating disease eventually gives way to eternal life. He is a God of forgiveness and redemption. He paid for your sins and offers you His forgiveness and restoration.
And Love – His love is the most astounding thing that you can imagine. The scripture says, “God Is Love” and He certainly is! Jesus said, “Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” He calls us His friends. He laid His life down for us and asks us to lay down our lives for each other. It means putting others first. It means making sacrifices to help people. His love also demands that we forgive ourselves. Don’t hold anything against anyone else and free yourself from your own self-condemnation.
This is what our God is made of and I want to follow Him.
