Some will say, “I want to be authentic, so I say what’s on my mind”. Authentic is not always what it’s cracked up to be. If my thoughts are coming from the evil side of my nature as the scripture talks about, I should deny that nature from it’s words. Instead, I should speak the words that Jesus would speak. I don’t like cliche’s but the question, “What Would Jesus DO” is a great one to ask often. What would He be thinking? What would He do? What would He say? If you can manage to discern what He would say and say it, you will change your course and your destination.
You may be thinking, “How could just using a few kinder more loving words in your daily interactions change your life is such a huge way?” Well, consider that you are beginning a long journey of thousands of miles (your life). If you stick to His coordinates (His life and language), you’ll navigate the journey well and end up exactly where He has directed you (your optimal destination). However, if you disregard (His directions) and are only a few degrees off as you travel, each mile will take you further from the ideal destination where you would have ended if you’d stayed on course. Words are just that powerful!
